Pebble [Read More](https://www.lux4home.com/p/the-lavabo-cut/) Plan the lighting around the selected onyx basin ------------------------------------------------ Ask to see the selected stone with the light both off and on. Veining, colour and thickness can change the appearance, so one photograph should not be treated as a promise that every basin will glow uniformly. Discuss the desired effect before confirming the piece and lighting arrangement. ### Coordinate the light with plumbing and service access The space inside a pedestal also has to accommodate its plumbing. Agree access to the waste connection and lighting components before installation, including how a failed component can be replaced. A lighting demonstration does not establish that the electrical equipment is included in the basin price; confirm the scope of supply in writing. A qualified electrician should select and install equipment suitable for the actual bathroom location and local requirements. Do not place an ordinary loose bulb or an improvised extension lead inside the pedestal. The design needs to address moisture exposure, heat management, cable routing and access, following the equipment manufacturer’s instructions. The UK organisation [Electrical Safety First provides bathroom electrical-safety guidance](https://www.electricalsafetyfirst.org.uk/safety-advice/home-and-people/bathroom/); requirements for your installation must be confirmed locally. ### Choose the basin format before finalising the effect A pedestal and a countertop basin provide different space for concealing and servicing equipment. See our [comparison of countertop and pedestal onyx sinks](https://www.lux4home.com/countertop-and-pedestal-onyx-sinks/), or explore the wider [stone sinks collection](https://www.lux4home.com/stone-sinks/) when planning the room. Send us your preferred form, dimensions and reference for the lighting effect so we can discuss the selected stone directly. ### Keep maintenance practical Confirm care instructions for the stone and finish, as well as separate maintenance instructions for the electrical equipment. Our [stone sink cleaning guide](https://www.lux4home.com/how-to-clean-stone-sinks/) provides a starting point for caring for the basin. Accessible components and a documented installation make future maintenance easier to plan.
